The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar.
This year, it falls on September 25.

In Vietnam, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as “Tết Trẻ em,” or the Children’s Festival.

Long ago, adults were very busy working in the fields during the farming season. After the harvest was finished, they took this opportunity to thank their children and make them happy by giving them a special time to enjoy and celebrate.

For me, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also a good opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you.

In Japan, we have a tradition that says there is a rabbit on the moon making rice cakes.

In Vietnam, however, there is a famous legend about Cuội, a man who is said to be sitting under a banyan tree on the moon.

According to the legend, Cuội was taken to the moon together with a banyan tree that had mysterious powers. This is a story that almost every Vietnamese child knows.
